Truck driver Jack Burton arrives in Chinatown, San Francisco, and goes to the airport with his Chinese friend Wang Chi to welcome his green-eyed fiancée Miao Yin who is arriving from China. However she is kidnapped on the arrival by a Chinese street gang and Jack and Wang chase the group. Soon they learn that the powerful evil sorcerer called David Lo Pan, who has been cursed more than two thousand years ago to exist without physical body, needs to marry a woman with green eyes to retrieve his physical body and Miao is the chosen one. Jack and Wang team-up with the lawyer Gracie Law, the bus driver and sorcerer apprentice Egg Shen and their friends and embark in a great adventure in the underground of Chinatown, where they face a world of magicians and magic, monsters and martial arts fighters.
Seriously, I rank Kurt Russell's portrayalJack Burton right up there with the greatest tough guys ever. He tops John McClane, John Spartan, and Curly. I haven't gone one second of my life without wishing I was Jack Burton. And the voices are getting louder…….
I can't believe so many people like this piece of crap movie. The acting is bad, the fighting scenes suck, and the parts which try to be funny aren't. This movie tries to be fun, but I can't forget about how bad each scene is while it tries this. If you're a little kid you may enjoy this film, but if you're a mature person you'll think it sucks considering you have an IQ of 90 or higher.
Big Trouble in Little China is a far more enjoyable mash-up of classic Westerns, Saturday-morning serials, and Chinese wu xia than any of the Indiana Jones movies, with Kurt Russell in full bloomCarpenter’s de rigueur hard-drinkin’, hard-gamblin’, wise-crackin’ loner hero—a bowling-alley John Wayne.
It is unknown and totally up for personal opinion. Some believe that he was attacked and killed by the beast hitching a ride on his truck, whereas others are confident that Jack would have defeated the creature and continued on his journey. At one point, a sequel was announced, but later scrapped, starring Kurt Russell. This would suggest that Jack Burton was alive and lived to fight another day. Upon seeing that Lo-Pan's has been killed, out of sadness and anger, he either lost temper and uncontrollably exploded, or allowed himself to explode on purpose in order to commit suicide. The Theatrical Version lacks the Kurt Russel comment "Fuck it!". The later released VHS contains this comment but lacks some other footage of the turf war between the two clans. The DVD and Blu-ray are uncut.
